Don’t you just love having the blank canvas of a new year in front of you? It seems the possibilities are endless when you can put the last year behind you and look at the fresh, clean slate that is the year ahead.

Of course, we all have those things from the previous year that follow us into the new year, but I always feel like I have the chance to make adjustments, do things a little (or a lot) differently, and set goals to help me accomplish what I want to in the new year.

I’ve learned to hold onto my goals and plans loosely, though, because things don’t always turn out the way we expect them to. It’s important to set goals so we’re not wandering aimlessly through our days, but it’s also vital that we not get so attached to our goals that we feel we’ve failed when we can’t meet them.

This year, I only set three goals, one of which is to be more intentional about improving my painting skills. My plan is to paint at least 3 times per week each week. I feel like that’s a reasonable goal for right now. I’m still going to physical therapy twice a week, along with other responsibilities, and I don’t want to make my painting time feel like work.

I do plan to do better with blogging, and interacting with all of you, now that my shoulder is not as painful. I’ve missed keeping up with everyone over these past few months!

Happy New Year! I wish you a wonderful new year, filled with fresh possibilities!
